Don't Forget BOH
Don't forget, Band of Horses will be playing at Hi Tone this Wednesday. Whatever you do don't record "Funeral" with your camera, Ben will meat out upon you. I unfortunately don't think I can make it. Arggg.......due to, you guessed it, the Real World.
MMJ and such.
Vampire Weekend got a well deserving 8.8 from P4k.
Also, in other news, FINALLY My Morning Jacket will be releasing Evil Urges on June 10. Finally, Jim, Finally.

Arcade Fire's "Black Mirror"
The Fire creates another sickening video. Unreal. You can toggle six different audio tracks. i.e. take out/add the drums, vocals, whatever you want to do. The video is wickedly fantabulous as well.

Full Streams and Solid Releases
Next week brings the new Vampire Weekend LP. Full stream here.
Sounds fabulous. Go over to stream and check out "M 79" its a little different than the version playing right now. The LP has an island feel, almost Sublime-esque. Probably will be up there on most year end lists for 08' Go see for yourself, and if you don't like it, take a walk into the bathroom, look into the mirror and slap yourself.
Next, Death Cab's Chris Walla releases Field Manual. Full stream here. On first listen, doesn't sound that great, but could be okay.
Head over to AOL SPINNER to stream:
Matt Costa - Unfamiliar Faces
Just sampled this the other day. I must say I was impressed. I think it deserves a purchase. Almost Rogue Wave-ish.
Drive-By Truckers - Brighter than Creation's Dark
Bought this album the other day. Definitely is better than Blessing but not as wonderful or gritty enough as Dirty South. It has some standout tracks but I nod off in the middle of the album.
The Whigs - Mission Control
I am looking forward to buying this album as well. Sounds great, almost echoes lo-fi dreamies Pavement, Guided by Voices, and Dinosaur Jr with a jigger of INXS and Tears for Fears.
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
A little strange, packed with electro-pop, but interesting nonetheless.

Playlist/Mix of the Month
I am going to try to post a playlist each month which consists of playlists/mixes I have made recently. I wish I could post the actual mp3 but I would run into problems. Anyway, make you a playlist on your Ipod or go to iTunes and download these gems. 2. Orphan - Sam Baker
3. San Antonio Burning - The Felice Brothers
4. Chelsea Hotel - Dan Bern
5. Falling Slowly - Glen Hansard
6. Hold On - Tom Waits

In our Backyard: Colour Revolt
Thanks for the heads up Adam. Colour Revolt will be releasing a new album, Plunder, Beg, and Curse on April 1st on Oxford's own Fat Possum records. The song "Naked Red" is available for download on myspace. NR begins relatively melodic and smooth contrasting the Devil and God, and then finishes rough and loud, a typical Colour Revolt trademark. They got a solid post by Stereogum. I am anxiously awaiting the Plunder.
In the most literal sense of the phrase, these guys rock.
Some new vids below.

Music in Movies
Finally got a chance to see the movie Once yesterday. I must say I was quite impressed. Once stars The Frames' Glen Hansard and Czech singer Marketa Irglova both wonderful musicians. The film is about a working class musician who is struggling to make it big and in the process meets an attractive "friend" who makes blissfully passionate music with him. It is really a great film. For those of you who have seen it, how amazing is the music store scene? Download the best song on the movie "Falling Slowly" free and legal HERE.

Strengthen Your Avett Catalogue.
I might as well update you on my quest to complete my Avett Brothers collection. I just got Mignonette two days ago (I had a burned copy previously that just didn't cut it). Mignonette ranks up there with Emotionalism and Four Theives Gone. The album begins with a gorgeous version of "Swept Away" which is honestly one of my favorite Avett tracks. Mig continues excite my ears with each new listen. "At the Beach" forces me to curse this cold weather for obvious reasons. If for some reason you have not gotten into these guys, instead of trying to drink the sour Panda Bear Koolade hop on obscure Avett bandwagon, and I promise you will thank me one day. You will transform from Hipster to Hickster (maybe we should make shirts....just kidding).
