Throwback: The greatest band ever.....
After six months without it, I finally got internet at my house. Therefore, I will have much more access to my collection. Here are two Uncle Tupelo gems. (for you virgins that's Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Jay Farrar of Son Volt). Incredible tunes. The perfect harmonizing we all know and love.

Great Video of Bonnaroo
Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips "crowd bubbling" at Bonnaroo. Amazing. Video Courtesy of stereogum.
New John Vanderslice
The new John Vanderslice Emerald City is out July 24 on Barsuk, and it sounds like he is back to the distortion ridden clever sound of Cellar Door. Fantastic track -

The National on NPR
The National played a concert last night in DC and NPR has the stream. A couple of noteworthy songs. Apartment Story starts of with no drums then kicks in. Baby, We'll Be Fine is a little faster. Squalor Victoria has the screaming at the end. Brainy has a jam at the end. Green Gloves is a little different it has a little more lubrication throughout the melody (if you will). Fake Empire has the guitar playing the trumpet parts.

Apocalypse Now: Recordz Edition
Rolling Stone has a new article out stating that "major labels" will soon be extinct.
"The major labels are struggling to reinvent their business models, even as some wonder whether it’s too late. “The record business is over,” says music attorney Peter Paterno, who represents Metallica and Dr. Dre. “The labels have wonderful assets — they just can’t make any money off them.” One senior music-industry source who requested anonymity went further: “Here we have a business that’s dying. There won’t be any major labels pretty soon.”Whole Article Here

New Ryan Adams Easy Tiger UpDate: Stream
I jumped the Ryan Adams ship long ago. I enjoyed Gold but anything after I am do not really dig. Ryan Adams is a complete (insert any expletive in the book). I prefer Whiskeytown to his solo albums. I can't stand when he high-pitch sings. See Also Jeff Tweedy. Speaking of Wilco, I hope they don't continue to go in the direction they are going now or they may become a used-to-be for me. Anyway, enough about Wilco. The new Ryan Adams album comes out June 26th. Have you noticed that every album has a picture of him on it? Anyway, I have given these tracks a listen and they sound pretty good. Kind of more like Whiskeytown or Heartbreaker. Two I Taught Myself How to Grow Old Oh My God, Whatever, Etc.

Decisions, Decisions.
Austin City Limits Fest Schedule is posted. There are a few notable conflicts. Wilco vs. MMJ (ouch) Arcade Fire vs. White Stripes and a few others.
ACL Schedule
Also, Lollapalooza is also posted. MMJ vs. Modest Mouse (ouch again)
Lollapalooza Schedule I wish I was going to both, but I doubt I will be going to either.

Semi-New Music: Pela
One release that slipped under the radar on April 23 was Pela Anytown Graffiti. Another Brooklyn gem shines through. I finally got this album recently, and must say I am impressed. While it did not get rave reviews by some, there is nothing wrong with this album; in fact, it is very good. I hear dabs of Birdmonster, The Smiths, with a touch of Interpol. Anytown Graffiti has a little more poppy influences than the aforementioned. Waiting on the Stairs Trouble with River Cities

Wilco and VW
Wilco songs will be in Volkswagen commercials in the near future. The band responded to criticism of this...." "With the commercial radio airplay route getting more difficult for many bands, we see this as another way to get the music out there."
They continued: "And we feel okay about VWs. Several of us even drive them." "If you're keeping track, this is not the first time Wilco has licensed a song to or even been involved in a commercial -- most recently a TV spot for Telefonica Mobile in Spain used a Wilco song and some years prior Jeff Tweedy appeared in a campaign for Apple Computer. Wilco have licensed hundreds of songs to television shows and films worldwide... from festival-only indie films to major motion pictures and weekly TV shows."
Watch "Is That the Thank I Get"
I personally don't have any problem with this. "Selling Out" is crap to me up to a certain extent. Band members should be paid being amazing. If you have to license a few songs...so be it. I guarantee the critics out there of "selling out" would do the same thing.
I would love to hear your views.....
